What is the Minimum Time Required to Build a Duplex House

No matter if you’re a first-time homeowner or you’re looking to downsize, duplex homes present the perfect option for many people. They’re versatile and can be customised to suit your style, and you know exactly what you’re getting right off the bat.

But how long does it really take for a duplex home to be built?

As experienced duplex home builders, Sydney residents can rest assured that we can swiftly build the duplex of their dreams without compromising on quality. When we provide a quote for your dream home, we factor in your personal needs and preferences, as well as our access to materials and staff.

And it’s with this in mind that we’re going to step through the different aspects of building with us, and how long you’re expected to wait for the home of your dreams to come to life.

Initial steps

When you work with Morris Homes, we work hard to ensure our final home design meets your personal needs. And that’s why we meet with you first. This initial meeting will happen within the first week or so, allowing us to better understand the type of home you want to live in.

From there, we will conduct a site inspection to get a lay of the land. This can help us determine what design will better complement the land we’re working with. If the site is too small, then we might have to think smart and opt for a multi-storey home. But if it’s on the larger side, then we could fit in a single-level dwelling instead.

Once we’ve understood the nuances of the site, then it’s onto the design. This is where we choose the best layout of the home that suits both your preferences as the homeowner and the specifications of the site. We will then work with you to do a detailed drawing of the home, adding in any inclusions and extras that you may want in your future home.

 Paperwork

Now that the fun parts of the process are done, it’s time to do some paperwork. This is where we lodge various applications to ensure we have the right permits to build your home. And, once these lodgements go through, it’s then time for you to sign the final contract.

As part of this paperwork stage, you’ll also be required to make your deposit on your unbuilt home. This deposit, as well as the signed contract, will lock you into your home both from a financial and design perspective.

Building and Construction

With the paperwork finalised and the deposit made, we can then move on to the building and construction phase. Usually, this will take a minimum of six months, but it can also take as long as 6 – 12 months. As much as we would love to predict exactly when your home will be built, anything can happen – weather can cause delays, there might be supply shortages, you name it.

And should any of these delays happen, the Morris Homes team will be transparent and honest with you about the progress of your home.

Once the home is built and we’ve conducted last-minute inspections and fits, it’s time for the handover stage. This is where we give you the keys and you officially can move into your brand new home.

Work with the best

Though our minimum build time is six months, this timeframe can easily be changed depending on the circumstances. But at Morris Homes, we will be working with you every step of the way, openly communicating with you about timeframes and progress.
